geekery, drawing and then some

Posts about drawing (old posts, page 4)

The drawing habit.

I lost my drawing habit. I haven't done any drawing or doodling in ages. I miss it, and yet I spend more time cleaning up than drawing...

This morning in bed I thought how it takes a month to create a habit, so I figured I'd start drawing one drawing a day in april.

After I got up I thought 'screw April, start today!'.

So, as of today, for at least a month, I will make at least one drawing (no matter what) to kickstart my habit. I'll call it my '30-day drawing challenge'.

I'll keep you posted...

What not to spend money on...

I'm a bit of a compulsive spender. There, I said it.

Unlike others, I don't buy shoes or clothes. I buy boxes. And organising stuff. Sites like The daily planner and The container store make my heart beat faster. And Thinkgeek.

Oh, and pens.

And I buy a lot of food.

Only on occasion do I not use the things I purchase, this happens maybe a couple of times per year. I don't buy 50 pairs of shoes, new skirts because they're on sale etc.

But I am a compulsive spender and this has to stop. I have more pens than I could possible ever get empty (granted, drawing just goes a lot better with the right pen, but I have multiple so that shouldn't become a problem any time soon). I have a gazillion (lovely) boxes. No more buying food when I have plenty in my pantry. Make shopping lists and stick to them. Time to grow up ;)

Warming up.

I drew my new waterbottle. In just about 15 minutes, the 21st SketchCrawl will start. I decided today to participate, although I won't go out and meet people and draw with them. Too ill still, so my participating will consist mostly of couch-drawing. Still, I want to try it, spend the entire day (or at least most of it) drawing and sketching. As a warm-up, I've drawn my waterbottle.

Spend most of the day cleaning up to prepare. So I better draw ;)

A drawing of food.

Vegetables . I had to make food, and after throwing it in the pan to warm up I started drawing and got distracted. I feel pretty good about how this turned out, I haven't done any drawing in ages (two or three months) because of my increased arthritis, and I found it didn't start hurting more when drawing this. Possibly caused by having a painkiller less than an hour before though :)

A Christmas card for all of you

imgI haven't sent out cards in years and I don't mind at all. I get a few, but less and less each year. Reciprocation plays a big role in the Christmas-card-business ;)

However, I wanted to post a digital one, one I made years and years ago (actually had them printed too, last time I sent out real cards). So there you go. My Christmas-card to the world, very personal ;)

img In my search for it I found another image I had forgotten all about, but did not want to leave out.

Happy stuffing! :)
